Happy Friday the 13th, chocolaty birthday to me!

This post is quite a bit late than it actually should have been. I intended to write this post on my birthday i.e. on Friday 13th September (International Chocolate Day)

So, it might mean according to few that it was a supposed to be an unlucky day for me but it wasn’t. It was quite a good day for me actually. I went to the university dressed in my Eid clothes and was praised by many fellows! 😀 ( and honestly who doesn’t like to be praised). I received a very cute hand-made birthday card from my siblings, which made it even better for me.

My actual purpose of writing this post is to highlight a few important points about 13th no. and International Chocolate day (about which I found out this year only)

Friday the 13th is considered one of the most unluckiest days of the month, however, according to us Muslims Friday is one of the luckiest and holy day of the week. Also, odd numbers are given special regard in Islam. Fear of Friday the 13th is nothing but a type of phobia known as paraskevidekatriaphobia a concatenation of the Greek words Paraskeví (Παρασκευή, meaning “Friday”), and dekatreís (δεκατρείς, meaning “thirteen”) attached to phobía (φοβία, from phóbos, φόβος, meaning “fear”). In fact, 13 is considered by many to be a lucky number. 13 is considered to be a lucky number in Italy. Also. many successful sports figures have worn the number 13. Apart from it, American country-pop singer-songwriter Taylor Swift was born on December 13. She considers 13 her lucky number due to lucky events happening to her when the number appears (her first album going gold in 13 weeks, being seated at awards shows in the 13th seat, row or section). She also wears the number written on her hand at her concerts so she has it with her everywhere she goes. However on the other side 13 is considered an unlucky number by The famous author of today J.K Rowling made a reference to its bad luck charm as it’s written in third book of Harry Potter series “when thirteen dine together, the first to rise will be the first to die”. I guess it’s just a matter of believing what one wants to believe! 😀 But for chocolate lovers, I guess it would be an easy way to eat lots of chocolate on 13th of September without any good reason! 😉

I guess this is what my birthday cake this year should have looked like!
